The Greater Accra Volleyball Association has successfully concluded the first edition of an officiating course geared towards building the capacity of referees to improve the game.

The first edition of the Greater Accra Volleyball Association referee's Indoor and Beach Volleyball Officiating Course started on Wednesday, August 17, and has ended today, Friday, August 19.

The officiating course was organised by the Greater Accra Volleyball Association in collaboration with the University of Ghana's Department of Physical Education and Sports Studies.

The three-day course brought a lot of old and new referee's from the Greater Accra, Western, Central, Volta, Bono East, and the Eastern Region respectively.

The referees were thought about the theory and practical aspects of the game and how to enter the Score Sheet at the Indoor and Beach Volleyball court of the University of Ghana Legon Campus.

The Chairman of the Greater Accra Volleyball Association Dr. Edward Owusu said that this being the first of its kind it will help in developing the game across the country.

"I will make sure the second coaching course will be added and also make it a week than the three days event," he said.

He also expressed his gratitude to the participants for making this course come on successfully as planned.

The newly-elected Ghana Volleyball Association president, George Tettey was in attendance on the final day to close the officiating course.
