University of Ghana wins bilateral games

University of Ghana (UG) collected 64 points to win the bilateral games between it and the University of Ibadan, (UI) Nigeria, held at Legon on Friday.

The Nigerians bagged a total of 52 points, won the chess and the badminton in the one-day games. UG beat UI 3-0 in the tennis match but lost 0-2 in the badminton, and also lost six and-a-half points to one and-a-half in the chess competition.

In the athletics competition, Mercy Bruce of UG clocked 4.84 points to win the 800m in the women\\\'s division.

Esi Bentsil-Enchil also of UG took the second position with Vivian Ozukwe of UI taking the third position.

A spokesman for the University of Ghana Sports Association said the games is aimed at fostering cordial relationship between the two universities. The return encounter will be held at Ibadan in Nigeria in April, this year.
