Andre Ayew’s Swansea City will have no chance of playing in the English Premier League next season after losing 3-1 to Brentford in the return leg of the first round of the English Championship playoffs.

Last Sunday, the Swans recorded a 1-0 win at the Liberty Stadium in the first leg with Andre Ayew netting the goal for the side.

Today, Brentford hosted Swansea City at the Griffin Park for a crucial game to decide who advances into the final phase of the Championship playoffs.

Following a very good display in the early parts of the first half, two goals from Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Marcondes on the 11th and 15th minutes respectively ensured that the home team went into the break with a good lead.

In the second half, Brentford scored a 3rd goal courtesy a strike from Bryan Mbeumo on the 46th minute, giving Swansea City a mountain to climb.

The pulsating encounter that ensured in the remainder of the second half saw Swansea City grabbing a consolation goal on the 78th minute through teenager Rhian Brewster.

With the match ending 3-1 at the end of the 90 minutes, Brentford is through to the final stage of the English Championship playoffs via a 3-2 aggregate result.

Andre Ayew finishes the season on a high despite his team's setback. He has scored 16 goals for Swansea City in this campaign and has 7 assists to his name as well.
