Real Oviedo striker, Samuel Obeng has disclosed that his exploits with the Ghana U-23 team last year helped him to enjoy more playing time with the senior team of the club.

The 23-year-old forward started the 2019/2020 football season with the B team of Real Oviedo where he managed to impress.

Having been invited to represent his country at the CAF U-23 tournament in Egypt, he gladly responded and went on to play in 5 goals as he scored 2 goals for the Black Meteors.

On his return to Real Oviedo, Samuel Obeng was fully promoted to the senior team with his coach giving him more playing time.

“As a striker, I hope to have scored more goals. But this year my situation has been different. I started with the second team before I was later pushed to the first team. There too I was not getting enough playing time.

“It was after I played for Ghana at the U-23 AFCON that they started giving me playing time. Fortunately, my last 2 goals have been key for the club. It has pushed us to escape relaxation and stay in the division. So I will say am happy for that because they were important goals”, Samuel Obeng told Accra FM in an interview last Saturday.

During his time with the Real Oviedo first team, the striker made 16 appearances and finished the season with 3 goals.
