2020 Parliamentary Race: NPP Kumbungu Confident In Fresh Faces

New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Kumbungu Constituency in the Northern Region are hopeful that the emergence of a new face who has declared his intentions to represent the party in the 2020 general elections will give them victory.

The rank and file of NPP supporters in the constituency including executives, electoral area coordinators, Council of Elders and polling station executives have openly supported Umar Abdul-Hamid.

Delegates and supporters are not only convinced the Mr. Abdul-Hamid will salvage the parliamentary seat from the opposition NDC, they also believe he will increase the party’s votes in the constituency.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has held to power in the constituency for four years as efforts by the NPP to win the seat in the 2000, 2012 and the 2016 general elections have not materialized.

NPP supporters in the constituency have likened Mr. Adul-Hamid to Prince Imoro Andani, a onetime Parliamentary candidate of the party and described him as a Messiah who can unseat the current Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Ras Mubarak.

The delegates have also described him as the perfect person who can project the constituency and also help bring more development to the area.

At a recent meeting with the delegates in the constituency, the members affirmed their support and readiness to the new face and pledged to work hard to contribute their quota to the party's victory.

For him, the only magic wand the NPP can use to grab the seat from its opponent is for all supporters to unite and work hard for a common goal.

He said the Nana Akufo-Addo led administration has enough to offer in terms of transforming the economy and impacting the lives of Ghanaians positively.

He reminded the delegates and supporters of their key role in educating the general populace within the area to make a good choice since their decision affect their lives and the future of their children.

He assured delegates and supporters he will never let them down should they choose him to represent the NPP in the 2020 general elections.

Mr. Abdul-Hamid, a practising lawyer, has served the party in various capacities and has played key roles which contributed towards the victory of the NPP in the 2016 general elections.

He has been an Assembly Member for 8 years and quit for a new face to continue even when the people in the electoral area needed him.

Many, have since described him as a politician who is not greedy.
