Juaso (Ash), Dec. 26, GNA - Kwasi Tawiah Poku, a 26-year-old unemployed has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment in hard labour by the Juaso circuit court for defiling a 10-year-old girl. He pleaded guilty to the charge. Police Inspector K I Mahama told the court presided over by Mr Jacob Boon that Poku and the victim all lived at Banso in the Asante-Akim South District.

He said at about 22:00 hours on December 16, this year, the accused person invited the victim who was returning from a video show to accompany him to his plantain farm nearby and the victim obliged. On reaching the farm, he said, Poku overpowered the girl and forcibly had sex with her but her screams attracted a passer-by who rushed to the scene and when the accused saw him approaching he took to his heels.
