'Kuye-Preko' Demo Against Ursula Owusu, MCE Almost Hit Rock

General News 'Kuye-Preko' Demo Against Ursula Owusu, MCE Almost Hit Rock
MAR 16, 2019 LISTEN

The turn-out for the Coalition of Dansoman Residents demonstration dubbed, “Kuye- Preko” was very low.

Residents say they are dissatisfied with the performance of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West, Hon Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and the Municipal Chief Executive, George Blay.

The Secretary of the Coalition, Daniel Adjololo accused the MP and MCE of sabotaging the supposed mammoth demo to register their plights.

He said the MCE and some members of the ruling National Patriotic Party (NPP) prior to the demo had gone around to cajole some chiefs and elders of the constituency to persuade their members from participating in the demonstration.

Mr. Adjololo added that some NPP supporters who are not happy with the poor development and approach of Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and had indicated their preparedness to join the demo pulled out at the latter minute for fear of victimisation.

Some residents who joined the demonstration also noted that the low-turn-out is as a result of the low publicity by the organisers.

The Coalition which is focused on the development and transparent governance converged at the Dansoman Lastop and later dispersed at Zodiac (a community in Dansoman) after they presented the petition to the MCE who also stood in for the MP.

Despite the low turn-out, the Dansoman police kept their apt to ensure a violent free protest.
