Two more die after kokonte meal

Bole (NR), Dec. 8, GNA - Two more members of the Nicolas Agyemang family who were in a critical condition at the Bole Hospital after eating a Konkonte meal, have died at the Hospital. They are Nicolas Agyemang, 52 years, head of the family, and father of all the deceased children, and Ewiche Agyemang, three years, twin sister to Ewie Agyemang, one of the earlier deceased persons. Briefing the media at the Hospital on Thursday, the Principal Medical Assistant, Mr Fredic Analah, explained that, this brings the number of deaths to eight.

He said the first two members of the family died immediately after the Konkonte meal before they got to the Hospital. He identified the four others who died later at the hospital as Heavens Agyemang, 12 years, Agusie Agyemang 19, Ewie Agyemang three years, and Raymond Agyemang 12 years.

The Medical Assistant further identified the current surviving members of the family at the hospital as Rebecca Agyeman, mother of all the deceased children, Tewiah Agyemang one and half years. The District Police Commander, Mr Raymond Martey however disclosed that, it was difficult presently, to understand how the incident leading to the poisoning, and death of the eight occurred, as the survivors who were the only source of information, could still not talk. Mr. Martey said the two were however, responding gradually to treatment, but that the eight deceased persons had been buried at their home in Chache, a community along the Ghana-Cote d'Ivoire border.
