WR: Car Crash Killed Six at Beahu

Six persons are feared dead in an accident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Beahu in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region. Four other persons are receiving treatment for serious injuries at the Kwesimintsim and Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospitals.

According to Citi News’ Western Regional Correspondent, Akwasi Adjei Annim, the accident involved an Urvan Bus with registration number WR 1697-18, and a Man Diesel Tipper Truck with registration number GT 6620-B, which was travelling from Agona Nkwanta direction towards Takoradi.

The Urvan bus run into the Man Diesel Truck which had stopped moving due to a faulty shaft.

The Western Regional Police PRO, DSP Olivia Adiku who spoke to Citi News, said the identities of the dead and injured are unknown for now.

Meanwhile, the police in Agona-Nkwanta have already cleared the accident scene and have commenced their investigations into the crash.

2,341 killed in 2018 in road accidents; 795 are pedestrians

Data compiled by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has revealed that, the total number of commuters killed in road traffic accidents in 2018 recorded a 12.76% jump over the figure for 2017.

This means persons killed rose from 2,076 in 2017 to a total of 2,341 in 2018 .

It comprises 1,796 males and 545 females.
