Akyem Swedru Secondary School gets sewing machines

Akyem Swedru, Nov. 21, GNA - The Akyem Swedru Old Students Association and the Akyem Swedru Nkosuo Kuo based in the United Kingdom, on Saturday donated a number of items valued at 5.5 million cedis to the school.

The items included 10 sewing machines for the home economic department and assorted books.

Presenting the items, the chairman of the Old Students' Association, Mr Kwaning Bosompem, said the gesture was just a beginning, adding that, come next year, the school would witness new development. He commended the students on their good behaviour in recent times and urged them to keep it up, since discipline goes with high academic performance.

The Headmaster of the school, Rev. Abraham Osei Donkor, thanked the two associations for the gesture and said the sewing machines had come at the right time when the home economic department, were in dire need of them for their practical lessons.

He assured them that their efforts to provide the school with the needed equipment would reap good dividends soon.

Rev. Osei Donkor, however, appealed to them to provide the school with sports equipment like football boots among others.

The chairman of the Board of Governors, Nana Professor Ofosu Asante Kodan, II, urged the students to put the items into good use to help them to improve upon their academic performance.

They should also take good care of them by making provision for their regular maintenance to help prolong their life span.
