Techiman Krontihemaa challenges enstoolment of Krontihene

Techiman Krontihemaa challenges enstoolment of Krontihene
10.12.2018 LISTEN

Nana Amoafowaa Agyeiwaa, the Krontihemaa of Techiman Traditional Area, has called on king-makers in the various traditional areas to strictly use the laid down customs and traditions in the various processes leading to the enstoolment of a chiefs, queens and other traditional leaders.

According to her, this would go a long way to forestall any conflict and communal misunderstanding which usually retard progress, peace and harmony in society.

In this regard, she is appealing to all feuding parties in her traditional area to resort to the use of laid down mechanisms to seek redress as a way of entrenching rule of law in the country

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Brong Ahafo Region House of Chiefs’ Judicial Committee meeting in Sunyani recently, Nana Amoafowaa, who has been on her stool for 44 years, bemoaned the practice where some chiefs circumvent the laid down traditions and customs in enstooling some chiefs, especially sub-chiefs.

She said, for instance, that even though she is by custom and tradition the right person to nominate someone for consideration and subsequent acceptance and installation as the Krontihene of the Techiman Traditional Area, she was by-passed during the process.

“I do not accept and recognize Yaw Konadu, who has been parading himself as the Krontihene of Techiman Traditional Area because I did not nominate him as per our customs and traditions”, the Krontihemaa told the media in an interview.

“The Omanhene of Techiman, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw is the one who nominated and installed Yaw Konadu as the Krontihene, which is a serious breach of the customs and traditions of the traditional area.

The Krontihemaa accused Yaw Konadu of orchestrating various verbal and physical attacks on her for speaking against his installation as the Krontihene of the area.

This is because, he has been making various fruitless efforts since his installation by the Techimanhene to “steal” the real Krontihene Stool from the ‘nkondwa dan mu’ (the room where the stool is kept).

She is therefore calling for the right thing to be done by nullifying his installation and allowing her to select a different candidate for the stool.

She said this would bring peace and foster unity among the people of the area and propel accelerated development in the traditional area.
