Man Drinks Agrochemical In A Suicide Attempt After Attacking His Wife

Luck has eluded a man who attempted to commit suicide by drinking an agrochemical substance after he attacked and inflicted cutlass wounds on his 35-year-old wife.

The incident happened at ‘Come see’ cottage near Assin Anhwiasu, in the Central region on December 5, 2018.

The police says the man, Kwadwo Bruso, had already taken in the “Akate Master“ a popular agrochemical substance he bought for his farm.

In an interview with Citi News, DSP Irene Oppong, the Central Regional Police PRO, recounted that upon arresting the suspect, he complained of stomach ache and claimed to have drunk the agrochemical substance after he butchered the wife with a machete over an argument on their farm.

Narrating the incident to Citi News, DSP Irene Oppong said on December 5, 2018 at about 1:16 pm, Police at Assin Nyankomasi received a distress call from one John Andoh, a resident of ‘Come See’,where Kwadwo Bruso had butchered Adwoa Tawiah, his wife after an argument.

According to DSP Irene Oppong, they deployed personnel to the scene and found Adjoa Tawiah in a pool of blood with a deep wound on her neck and another on her left arm.

“She was bleeding profusely” DSP Irene Oppong noted.

The victim was rushed to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu for medical attention.

“A doctor who attended to the victim resolved to give her referral to either Cape Coast hospital or the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital due to the severity of the victim’s condition,” the Police PRO explained.

Explaining the reason behind the attack, DSP Irene Oppong said Kwadwo Bruso was working with his wife on their farm when a misunderstanding ensued between.

“Adjoa Tawiah then begun screaming for help and it attracted the attention of Yaw Otabil a forest guard to the scene,” DSP Irene Oppong explained.

Suspect Kwadwo Bruso has been admitted at the St.Francis Xavier hospital for treatment.
