The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Executives and members of the Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region have declared their total support for the candidature of Prof. Joshua Alabi as the person to lead the party as presidential candidate to wrestle political power from the ruling NPP in 2020.

Prof. Alabi has been a Greater Accra Regional Chairman when the party was in opposition and whose efforts brought the party into power in 2008, he demonstrated beyond any doubt that he is a key strategist, crusader and very good team player who can lead the party to wrestle power from the ruling NPP if given the nod as the party's presidential candidate.

The former University for Professional Studies Vice Chancellor who is seeking to be President, is touring the Western Region to sell his ideas to the grassroot ahead of the NDC’s national delegates conference in November.

Prof. Joshua Alabi met his party's teeming supporters and delegates at Half Assini in the Jomoro Constituency on Thursday, October 4, 2018 as part of his seven days tour in the Region to solicit their support and votes in their upcoming presidential primaries.

Speaking during the meeting, the teeming party's members declared "our faith in Prof. Alabi remains unshaken. We believe Alabi will continue the fight against the NPP's populism and help consolidate the gains of the NDC".

They said some of the traits of Candidate Alabi includes, being a team leader, unifier, energetic and hardworking, as well as a good and experienced man and civic leader.

Although the party members were disappointed in the previous government (NDC) for reneging on its oars to transform their lives through a good relationship, but their hopes in the party got renewed after listening to Professor Alabi’s message of unity and transformation which he envisages will win the NDC power in 2020.

The delegates also promised to vote massively for Prof. Joshua Alabi come December to lead the party into victory.

On his part, Professor Alabi expressed his profound appreciation for the party's members of reposing confidence in him and pledged his unflinching support for them and asked the delegates to have confidence in him always and vote massively for him to lead the NDC.

He also promised that the grassroots of the party would be the center of his governance if elected as a president in this country.

Prof. Alabi who has worked in farm before and has been adjudged the National Best Farmer in this country expressed his worries about how farmers are suffering in this country promised to help improve their living conditions when he becames the president in this country in 2020. He made this earlier remarks where he interacted with the people in the Constituency on Hope FM.

Prof. Alabi speaking on the radio spoke about the unfortunate situation where the state has not been able to tap into the potential of many coconut trees dominating the area.

He, however, was happy he had travelled to the area, affording him the opportunity to see for himself the many coconut trees in the area which he see as an opportunity to create an industry, provide jobs and contribute meaningfully to the economy through a coconut industry.

"My traveling to this Constituency has afford me a great opportunity to see for myself the many coconut trees in this area which has given me opportunity to establish a coconut factory which will provide jobs and contribute meaningfully to the economy if I have been elected as the next president of this country", he stated.

He, therefore, used the opportunity and appealed to the constituents to reject the NPP government led by President Akufo-Addo in 2020 and vote for the NDC to take the country to the promised land and with this, he said if this would be materialized then, the NDC delegates must elect him to lead the party.

Prof. Alabi vowed on the show to beat President Akufo-Addo in 2020 to make him a one term President if elected as the party's presidential candidate.

Speaking to the media, Benjamin Essuman who is the PRO for Prof. Alabi's campaign team, said he believes in the delegates that they will vote massively for Prof. Alabi.

He revealed that the previous constituencies that they have visited, the delegates overwhelmingly received Alabi and added that they all promised to vote for him.

He described Prof. Alabi as the person who has this country at heart and called on all the people of the Region to rally behind his boss and also pray for him always to win.

Essuman said Prof. Alabi as his name Joshua is, will be the only person who can take the party to the promise land.

He thanked the Region for receiving them and promised them to remind Prof. Alabi of their requests made to him if elected as the party's presidential candidate.

He was optimistic that come what may, the delegates of the party will vote massively for Prof. Alabi to lead the party into victory in 2020.

He was overwhelmingly received by over thousands of the party's members they enjoyed his message.
