A total of 40 robbery cases have been recorded by the Amasaman Divisional Police Command within the first half of this year.

According to the divisional commander, Chief Superintendent Francis Yiribaare, this shows a downward reduction in crime as compared to the previous years but they were poised to further reduce the trend.

“For this first six months, we have recorded a total of 2,658 cases as against 2,953 total cases recorded same period last year. The reduction is due to some measures implemented by the division to eliminate these miscreants from our society,” he revealed.

He was speaking at their 2017 Annual West African Security Services Association get-together known in security parlance as WASSA.

He said a total of 1,032 cases of assault were recorded from January to June, with 521 threat cases.

Eight cases of murder were recorded while seven cases of rape and 33 cases of defilement were also recorded.

Chief Superintendent Yiribaare thanked personnel of the division, the various municipalities for their collaboration, support and encouragement over the period.

Nii Amasa Oseku II, Chief of Amasaman, in a remark, admonished sister security agencies to collaborate and fight crime in the country.

He said personnel should be professional when discharging their mandate.

The chief of Amasaman entreated the public to support the police to achieve their objectives as peace officers.

The event was also attended by the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ga West Municipality, Mr Clement Wilkingson; traditional leaders including Nii Otto Kwame V, Pokuase Mantse; Nii Akwa II, Ga Odumasi Mantse; among other dignitaries.
