Bawumia Supports Anas Mode Of Operation

Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has defended mode of operation of undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas in exposing corruption.

He said: “what Anas is doing is very relevant,” adding that “people should know that what they do in the dark can be exposed.”

“Really I will encourage him [Anas] to do what he does,” the Vice President added.

Dr Bawumia remarked in a video posted on Anas' Facebook Page on Sunday ahead of the public screening of a video said to have captured some top officials in Ghana's sports sector engaging in some alleged corrupt practices.

June 6, 2018, has been scheduled for the premiering of the said video.

Already the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department for allegedly sealing some business deal in the yet-to-be-screened video using the name of the President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Vice.

President Akufo-Addo directed the CID to investigate Nyantakyi after watching excerpts of the Anas video.

An outspoken member of the governing New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Agyapong is on record to have chastised Anas for his mode of investigation describing as “blackmail.”

He has also threatened to publish properties owned by Anas.

Kennedy Agyapong who is also the Member of Parliament for the Assin Central constituency has also reportedly released some pictures he claimed were that of hooded Anas but turned out to be fake.

For this reason, the Ghana Journalist Association condemned the photos and asked for 24 hours protection for the investigative journalist and his team.
