MP For Assin South Appeals For Help For 500 Displaced Residence

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South District in the Central Region, Honourable John Ntim Fordjour is calling on the National Disaster Management Organization NADMO, Corporate bodies as well as PhilanthroPhila to come to the aid of residents in his district after yesterday’s rainstorm displaced five hundred of the residents. There were homes, schools, churches and markets that were affected and destroyed.

Particularly, some schools have had their dormitory roofs ripped off and students have been relocated to classrooms. Even though it is temporary it is a situation that needs to be solved immediately.

Most parts of the Country experienced rainstorm yesterday from as early as 8pm through to today, leaving many Ghanaians from different regions in dire need of help. Residents of Assin South District are amongst the people who have been heavily affected by the rainstorm.

Reports indicate that just last three weeks similar rainstorm visited the district and caused damage to the people in the area. Due to that, the MP for the District, Hon. Ntim Fordjour had to get a number of roofing sheets and supply to people who were affected.

Speaking to Class News today, Honorable Ntim Fordjour disclosed that the rainstorm affected eighteen communities in total in the district and he has been able to visit all communities and talked to all victims as well. He also revealed that he has communicated the situation to the Director General of NADMO and he has assured him that they will receive help as soon as possible.

The worried MP also reiterated that he is also mobilizing some things and when the help from NADMO arrives he will go around and distribute the things to his people.

"It is very important that NADMO comes to our aid and other philanthropist, corporate Ghana and any other individuals that are so concerned"

Moving on he pleaded that, “We are appealing for support so that as soon as possible we will provide shelter especially for the aged and people with disability”.

He also said it will be best to receive aid quickly to ensure that they mitigate the adverse effect that has been unfortunately meted out on the good people of Assin South.
