THE QUEEN mother of the Bechem Traditional Area, Nana Amoaa Gyamina, has given a pastor, only named as Emmanuel, of Divine Faith Prayer Ministry, 24 hours to leave the town with his church members.

He has been accused of concocting stories about witches, thereby causing fear and panic in the town

According to information gathered by DAILY GUIDE, Prophet Emmanuel had prophesied that witches from Sunyani were on their way to Goaso through Bechem to have their 'international conference' with other witches from the world – starting yesterday. But the man of God reportedly vowed to stop the witches from passing through Bechem else he would strike them down by the power of God. He was said to have made the assertion on After 3 Fm – a local radio station.

Yesterday scores of crows, doves, vultures with red bands tied on their necks and rinks on their claws, were found dead at a place called Bechem Nkwanta – a supposed venue for witches. News of witches turning into crows, doves and vultures went round at Bechem, causing fear and panic. Prophet Emmanuel confirmed the incident to Space Fm on their morning show monitored by DAILY GUIDE. He claimed that about 10 vultures and crows had crush-landed, following night vigil and prayers he and his church members held to stop the witches.

However, in an interview with After 3 Fm at Bechem, Nana Amoaa Gyamina challenged the claims of the pastor saying, investigations had proved that the pastor's claims were faked. She said the man of God connived with some people to kill the birds to endorse his claims in order to win members to his church. The angry queen mother told the station that that behaviour was tarnishing the good name and image of Bechem, and so gave the pastor 24 hours to leave the town.

“I was in Kumasi when I was called that something had happened in my town so I rushed back only to see the whole town in chaos, with some youth holding cutlasses and guns. When we summoned the pastor he said the story was true, but investigations have revealed that it was a plot to get more people into his church and so I am asking him to leave the town within 24 hours,” she maintained.
