The Kumasi Metropolitan Security Committee (MESEC) has set up a committee to investigate circumstances that led to the attack on students of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) on Wednesday night, which resulted in the death of one of them.

Master Godfred Arthur, a final year student, was said to have sustained knife wounds in the neck during the attacks by a gang that went to the school at about 2200 hours on May 09, this year.

He died shortly after he had been rushed to a hospital and the body had since been deposited at the morgue for autopsy.

Two members of the gang, have been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command to assist in investigations.

Mr Osei Assibey-Antwi, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), who visited the school on Thursday morning to console with the authorities and the bereaved family, described the incident as unfortunate.

He said the MESEC had directed the police to step up security patrols on the school campus to ensure the safety and security of both staff and students.

Some of the students who interacted with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) expressed shock at the incident, calling for effective measures to address the security challenges in the school.
