Himan Advocacy Youth Network Commends Gov’t For Launching Nation Builders Corps

By Himan Advocacy Youth Network

The Himan Youth Network, on the occasion of the launch of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO), adds its voice in congratulating the President H. E. Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo for his commitment in reducing graduate unemployment in the country.

The issue of graduate unemployment is one that needs the utmost attention of all successive governments. Data report from Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) has revealed that only 10% of graduates acquire jobs after their National Service. One of the challenges indicated in the report is the low capacities of industries to retain the huge numbers of the service personnel.

Notwithstanding the 100,000 job opportunities this program seeks to provide, there would be enormous burden on government fiscal expenditure. We therefore urge government to implement policies that will ensure fiscal consolidation.

Furthermore, we encourage the government to expand the local economy and provide more incentives to the private sector in order for them to expand and retain National Service personnel and employ some of these jobless graduates.

Himan Advocacy Youth Network admonishes the youth to embrace this policy directive by government and contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.

Finally, we wish to encourage the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly to give applicants the necessary support needed to go through a smooth and transparent application.

Long live Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly!
Long live Mother Ghana!
