Four Persons have been remanded into Police custody by an Accra Circuit Court for various offences including conspiracy to commit crime, forcible entry, trespass, possessing ammunition without lawful authority and possession of narcotic drug.

The accused persons, who pleaded not guilty are Fuad Mohammed Fiadziegbe; 35 years, Sulemana Ibrahim; 38 years, Mallam Abdu Fatah; 36 years and Habib Alfah; 45 years. They are to reappear on Wednesday, May 9.

Prosecuting Superintendent of Police Kwaku Bempah told the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that the complaint in the case are Lomo Laryea, the Lawful Administrator of Okantsum Family of La/Accra and Police officers from the Regional Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) of Police Regional Headquarters.

He said Mohammed, Ibrahim, Mallam and Habib were also Barber, Trader, Herbalist and Driver, residing at Nima:Alaska and Spintex respectively.

He said on November 26, 2015, Numo Nmashie Family had an Appeal Court judgment covering about seventy-two villages in Accra; follow a protracted dispute with Okantsuru Family of La.

He said Okantsuru Family also obtained Supreme Court judgment covering eighty acres of land, situated at Amanhia near Dodowa and Numo Nmashie family claimed that the 80 acres of Okantsuru family falls within their area of jurisdiction.

The Prosecution said on January 20, this year at about 14 hours the complainant reported to Police that, whilst his clients were preparing a portion of their family land at Amanhia, a group of land guards armed with guns, sword, machete and other offensive weapon laid ambush around the site in readiness to attack his workers.

Supt Bempah said on the receipt of the information a team of Police personnel from the Regional CTU accompanied by the complainant proceeded to the site.

He said immediately the land guards felt the presence of the Police, they started firing at the Police and the Police quickly returned fire and in the process, Mohammed, who was holding pump action gun and firing indiscriminately was shot at his right leg.

He said the land guards put up a fierce resistance and struggled with the Police, but the arresting team managed to arrest eleven of them including Mohammed.

'A search conducted on the accused persons revealed one pump action gun from Mohammed, two small live cartridges and two wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Narcotic drugs, retrieved from Ibrahim, two BB live cartridges and quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Narcotic drugs retrieved from Mallam and one long sword was also retrieved from Habib,' he added.

He said Mohammed was rushed to the Police Hospital, the same day for treatment and was subsequently admitted and later discharged.
