Medifem To The Rescue Of Kpadjai Pupils

Pupils of the Kpadjai Roman Catholic School in the East Gonja District of the Northern Region will no longer be sitting on the floor for lessons, thanks to the Medifem Multi-Specialist Hospital & Fertility Centre which purchased and supplied 50 dual desks to the school.

The gesture followed a story aired by Ghana Television (GTV) highlighting the sorry state of teaching and learning in the school which is heightened by lack of furniture.

Commenting on the gesture, the Hospital Manager, Mrs. Wilhelmina Banful, said it was with great delight and urgency that management of the hospital responded to the call of the school since the situation also had health consequences for the pupils.

She indicated that the hospital Management was touched by the plight of the school and in line with the hospital’s social initiative policy, decided to take the step to help improve the situation.

“We were deeply touched by the story of pupils in the Roman Catholic School at Kpadjai and in line with our social initiatives philosophy, we took the decision to assist them. There are a number of health consequences for children who sit and lie on the floor to read and write. As a hospital that has a strong history with maternal and childcare, we believe that every child, irrespective of where he or she is born must be given all the resources and help to realize his or her full potentials and it is in the light of this that we have taken this initiative” Mrs. Banful remarked

In a brief ceremony organized to receive the furniture, Headmaster of the School, Mr. Edward Osei thanked the hospital for its kind gesture and also expressed appreciation to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation for giving coverage to their challenges which has resulted in the donation.

He said the furniture has come at a good time and would help alleviate some challenges related with teaching and learning in the school. He promised to ensure that the furniture serves its intended purpose and called on other corporate bodies to emulate Medifem’s example.

In attendance to witness the event were pupils and teachers of the school, chiefs, parents, representatives from the clergy as well as partners from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.
