Mr Alexander Frimpong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante-Akim South, has commended the chiefs and opinion leaders in the area for their overwhelming support to the assembly's industrialisation agenda.

He said the preparedness of the chiefs to release lands for the establishment of factories and enthusiasm shown by the people to receive and welcome investors into the Municipality was heart-warming.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Juaso, Mr Frimpong said the six paramount chiefs in the area had wholeheartedly received official letters from the assembly requesting them to make lands available for prospective investors who had expressed interest in setting up factories.

He said the chiefs had all indicated their readiness to release lands for any investor who may choose to establish businesses in their respective traditional areas to create jobs for the people.

At the inauguration of the Assembly, which has been elevated to a Municipal status, Mr Frimpong said the chiefs took turns to reiterate their commitment to supporting the industrialisation drive, insisting that it would inure to the benefit of their people.

This, he said, was a boost to the Assembly's quest to transform the Municipality into an industrial hub under the One District One Factory Policy.

He disclosed that a Chinese investor was scheduled to visit the Municipality in April to undertake a feasibility study for the establishment of a cocoa processing plant.

Mr Frimpong said the Member of Parliament, Mr Kwaku Asante Boateng, was engaging another investor who had expressed interest in establishing a fertilizer factory in the Municipality.

He said the Assembly would continue to create the right environment to attract more investors to the Municipality, which was endowed with numerous resources.

He charged well-to-do indigenes in the Diaspora to come home and invest to create jobs for their people.
