The Ghana Pray Group, an interdenominational prayer group that focuses on praying for God's interventions in the development of the country at the weekend, launched its Northern Chapter of the programme in Bolgatanga.

The quarterly prayer programme, dubbed 'Pray Them In, Pray Them On (PTIPTO)' which is a nationwide initiative being implemented by the group, has already seen three of such quarterly PTIPTO programmes organised for the Greater Accra Region.

The Northern Chapter programme comprised of Christians from the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions, who would come together every three months to pray for God's protection and blessing over the country.

The PTIPTO programme, which had as its theme 'Believing God's best for Ghana, All Hands on Deck', was aimed at ensuring that Christians held continuous intercessions for the leadership of the country to promote good governance.

Launching the programme in Bolgatanga, Reverend Samuel Ashun Boateng the National Director of the Group said the idea was coined to ensure that the country did not only pray during elections period but also prayed after the election so that God would guide people in leadership positions, especially those in decision making to ensure stability in governance.

Rev. Boateng said the church was a partner in nation building and was imperative for all Christians to pray to God at all times to seek His blessings upon the leaders to make right choices and decisions that would improve the livelihoods of the people, especially the vulnerable in society.

'We have been praying to God about Ghana, but we have been praying without solid base of knowledge and therefore our prayer lacks importance. As partners in nation building, we have a Biblical calling to stand for the development of this nation.'

While calling for attitudinal change in prayers to help leaders discharge their duties successfully and promote progressive and sustained development, the Director who is also the founder of Converted Christians Ministries International (CCMI), asked members of the public to stop politicising prayers.

He advised Christians to embrace political roles, and said 'politics means a person who decides who gets what and when' indicating that culture and media played critical roles in the development of the country and expressed concern about the neglect of these critical areas, which affected development.

The occasion was also used to inaugurate the Northern sector leadership, with Bishop Samuel Aziz Danladi, founder and General Overseer of the Glory Gate Chapel International as Director and Pastor Jacob Boaram Moari of the Family House Ministry, Bolgatanga as Deputy Director.

Dr Christopher Boatbil, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Talensi who delivered a speech on behalf of Mr Rockson Ayine Bukari, Upper East Regional Minister, expressed gratitude to the founders of PTIPTO for their efforts to offer prayer support to government.

He said it was the fervent prayers of the various religious bodies that had guided the country through the numerous socio-economic challenges in the past and called for more collaboration between religious bodies and government to accelerate development.

Bishop Danladi who called for collective efforts from members of the public to ensure that the prayer initiative realized its intended targets noted that leaders were key in the development agenda of the country only with God's involvement.
