The Corporate Affairs Manager of the Ghana Integrity Initiative has welcomed the president’s initiative for a performance review of his appointees.

Michael Boadi would, however, want the process to be made public for the citizens to make an input into the review process.

Commenting on the review process which began Monday with four of the ministerial appointees, the GII Corporate Affairs Manager said for a system of government which believes in accountability, no better person can hold the appointees accountable than the president.

He suggested that for purposes of transparency, the president must make the review process open so that all Ghanaians will know what went into the review process.

At least four of the ministers, National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah; Trades Minister, Alan Kyeremanten; Minister for Regional Reorganisation and Development, Dan Botwe and Foreign Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway are expected to answer for one year of their stewardship as ministers of state.

As at 6:05 pm Joy News’ Presidential correspondent Elton John Brobbey reported the National Security Minister had taken his turn with the president and possibly with the Senior Minister present.

It lasted for just an hour.
The details of the discussion cannot immediately be ascertained but with vigilante attacks by followers of the NPP as well as deadly armed robbery attacks which have claimed the lives of some police personnel in the last 12 months, Mr Kan Dapaah’s areas of accountability were clearly cut out.

Messers Alan Kyeremanten and Dan Botwe as well Ayorkor Botchwey were yet to take their turn with the president who is likely to be assisted in the appraisal by the senior minister Osafo Maafo.

Commenting on the review process, Michael Boadi said the review by the president is “good practice” but to ensure accountability and more transparency the review must be open for the public to make an input into the process.
