Afram Plains Development Organization, an NGO, acting in partnership with the Kwahu Afram Plains North and Kwahu South District Education Offices has assisted 3,668 out-of-school children to enroll.

This is under the Complementary Basic Education (CBE) Program being implemented by the NGO with support from the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

Mr. Modoc Omoro Awudu Yakubu, Executive Chairman of the Organization, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that these children were in hard-to-reach deprived communities.

He said the five-year program had targeted to put about 200,000 children in four districts - Afram Plains North, Afram Plains South, Krachi East and Nchumuru in public schools.

He indicated that the intervention had helped to significantly increase school enrolment in the project area.

They were eager not only to go the extra mile to get every child to school but to ensure that they were retained, he added.

Mr. Awudu Yakubu reminded parents to put premium on the education of their children and said that was the best thing they could do for them.
