Ghana Technology University College Begins Implementation Of 5-Year Plan

The Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) has started implementing activities outlined in its five-year strategic plan that would create and build a more congenial academic environment to facilitate teaching and learning.

The fundamental subjects of the plan seek to reposition the University College into a new level of efficiency to make it more competitive locally and globally by 2021.

'GTUC has begun the implementation of our 5-year strategic plan, the vision 2021,' Professor Isaac Abeku Blankson, Vice President of the College announced at its 18th congregation parade.

'The University College will streamline the various departments and faculties and introduce new systems in their operating procedures to ensure that our vision is achieved,' he added.

'Vision 2021 is a high priority of management of the University College and we will ensure that the plan is implemented in a highly transparent, communicative, and inclusive manner.'

He said officials would use internal communication platforms to continue to inform, educate and engage stakeholders in the spirit of what he called 'shared-governance.'

Professor Blankson said: 'In view of this, we will continue to promote scholarship through transformative student experiences, problem based learning and experiential learning approaches through the application of cutting edge technology.'

'I believe that our focus on the core themes of the strategic plan will help us reinvent a university that is stronger than before, elevating GTUC to a new level of efficiency.'

The College awarded certificates to 1,367 undergraduates, 124 graduates and 11 doctoral candidates, in addition, 32 students were also graduated last month from Coventry University.

The Executive Secretary of National Council for Tertiary Education, Professor Mohammed Salifu said, though, recent change in leadership at the helm of affairs at GTUC might have caused some anxiety amongst stakeholders, they should remain calm.

'Please be assured that this was only a temporary administrative adjustment which will be sorted out soon.'

He said a blueprint was put together in September 2016 for the processes leading to the full transfer of GTUC to the ministry of education.

'As part of the efforts, GTUC has been captured in the budget of the Ghana Education Trust Fund,' he added.
