Wisconsin International University College over the weekend held its 15th Matriculation Ceremony to welcome 983 students into the institution.

This number is made up of 411 males (41.81%), and 572 females (58.19%) from 13 countries.

The ceremony was graced by Chairman of the University Council, Justice Isaac Duose, Vice Chancellor Prof Obeng Mireku, and Vice President of Synergies Institute-Ghana, Ogochukwu Nweke as guest speaker.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Prof Obeng Mireku promised the students of the institution's support towards their academic excellence.

“Investing in your tertiary education has come at great cost and sacrifice to many of your families. Parents and guardians, spouses, families – if there are any here present – be rest assured that, individually and collectively, the staff, faculty and management of this great institution, will do all that is in their power to equip, empower, enrich and encourage these matriculants to reach the pinnacle of their potential. We will provide opportunities to deepen their knowledge, expand their understanding of society and the world, and build their skills to prepare them for employment, innovation and entrepreneurship.”

He added that, the students must be responsible and committed to their studies.

“I encourage and charge each one of you, matriculants, to equally do all that is in your power to apply yourselves, seize opportunities and resolve to make yourselves, your families and your nations proud. Completing your programme of study successfully depends largely on you. It depends on how seriously you take your studies; it depends on the choices you make; it depends on the single-mindedness of your determination to succeed”.

Chairman of the University Council, Justice Isaac Duose, cautioned the matriculants on the choices they make as they climb the academic ladder.

“My appeal to you is that you choose wisely. Choose your friends wisely. Choose wisely how you spend your time, resources and energy. Choose wisely who you want to become. Choose wisely what you want your personal brand to be. If you make a wrong choice, learn from it, move on and make a choice not to repeat it. This is how character is formed. This is how destiny is cast. That is what we call experience.”

“Do not sacrifice your future for the now, by choosing only what is expedient, what is easy to get. Think ahead– think of how your actions would affect you and others today, tomorrow and forever” he admonished.
