The NPP Member of Parliament for for Gomoa Central constituency in the Central Region, Hon. Naana Eyiah Quansah has donated medical equipment running into thousands of Ghana Cedis to the Gomoa Obuasi Health Centre to facilitate healthcare delivery in the constituency.

The items made up of face masks, sample containers, butterfly needles, syringe and needles, catheters, canulars, urine bags, nebulizers, limb holders and calf cauff.

The rest include holisters, examination gloves and large quality of plastors among others was a collaboration efforts by Hon. Naana Eyiah Quansah and The Affum Darkwa Mission International (TAMI) a philanthropist body based in New Jersey in USA and Ghana.

Presenting the items at Gomoa Obuasi on Monday, the Gomoa Central Member of Parliament disclosed that the health needs of the people in the constituency and beyond had been her major concern hence the donation to augment healthcare delivery.

According to her the the Gomoa Obuasi Health centre serve over 35 communities in over six District and Municipal Assemblies and therefore need to be supported.

She mentioned Agona Swedru, Agona Nsaba, Winneba, Gomoa Dawurampong, Ekwamkrom, Kwameadwer, Agona Nyakrom among communities that access healthcare delivery at the centre due to brilliant performance of personnel at the centre.

"It is an opened secret that the Gomoa Obuasi Health centre is acclaimed ' Mother to Child' friendly health centre. This attracted expectant and nursing mothers to seek medical treatment for early recovery.

Many a times, the Gomoa Obuasi health centre becomes the first choice whenever the need arise for patients to seek medical attention. I salute management and staff.

It was based on this brilliant performance that I sought assistance from my donor partners to present these items to complement day to day operations of the facility.

Government alone cannot shoulder the operational cost of health facilities dotted across the country, it is our responsibility as citizens to contribute our quota in this direction. As a Member of Parliament, I will continue to looby for more health equipment to ease pressure associated with lack of tools and equipment in our health facilities"

The Gomoa East District Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo said the Assembly would do everything within its power to ensure expansion of the Gomoa Obuasi health centre and other health post and CHIPS compound to ease congestion.

He noted that the Assembly was seeking support from the central government for the upgrading of the health centre to a District Hospital status adding that plans were far advanced for the project to be executed.

Receiving the items, the Gomoa East District Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Stephen S. Tie-Toh lauded Hon. Naana Eyiah Quansah for the donation saying it would be put into good use to serve the people in the catchment area.

According to the District Director, the Gomoa Obuasi health centre has one of the best staff who have been discharging their duties dillegently.

Nana Afoduasan II, chief of Gomoa Obuasi assured the DCE and the MP that the community were ready to offer communal labour for any project that would enhance the growth of the facility.
