NRSC to train motor cycle and tricycle users about safety measures

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Planning Officer of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), Mr. Kwasi Boateng, has hinted that the commission is in the process of training motor and tricycle users about safety measures.

Mr. Kwasi Boateng said the commission has introduced some measures to regulate and safeguard the activities of motor and tricycle users in the country.

Speaking in an interview on SPACE FM MORNING FLIGHT hosted Mr. Dickson Smith on Thursday, Mr. Kwasi Boateng expressed worry about the rampant motor and tricycle crashes that have claimed many lives in Berekum, Wenchi, Duayaw-Nkwanta and Bechem.

He however added that the commission has Ambassadors who are going round campaigning and training motor and tricycle users about the need to wear helmet and other protective gadgets when riding. According to him, after the training, they would be issued with licenses.

In a related development, the Brong-Ahafo regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Stella Sedame, has urged road users to be responsible for their own safety.

The MTTU commander was worried that road users sometimes fears rains instead of oncoming cars which maim or kill them as a result of careless driving or mechanical fault

Superintendent Sedame called on drivers to periodically maintain their vehicles and urged them respect other road users. She appealed to the public to wear reflective uniforms when using the road in the nights.
