Kenyasi Number One Omanhene goes to the village

Accra, May 18, GNA - Government was on Wednesday officially informed about the death of Nana Kwaku Acheampong, the First Paramount Chief of the Kenyasi Number One Traditional Area in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Nana Acheampong, 93, who reigned for 51 years, died on March 18, 2005 and would be buried on June 13 at the Royal Mausoleum. Okatakyie Kodom IV, Nkoranzamanhene and President of the Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, led a delegation from the Traditional Area to inform President John Agyekum Kufuor about the death at the Castle, Osu.

President Kufuor paid glowing tribute to Nana Acheampong for his long reign and his contribution to the socio-economic development of the area noted for its forests, natural resources, especially gold, and hardworking farmers.

He commended the delegation for inviting the Government to participate in the funeral celebrations. Nana Acheampong left behind 21 children.
