Techiman (B/A), May 24, GNA - Traders at the Central Business District of the Techiman say they fear for their lives following the influx of mentally deranged persons in the municipality.

They told the Ghana News Agency that the mentally insane persons, mostly men always looked restless and aggressive and appealed to the city authorities to rid them off the street.

Mr Vincent Boakye, a petty trader said the 'madmen' are a nuisance at the main Techiman lorry station as they sometimes attack unsuspecting victims.

He said some of them hold various objects which can be used as weapons and appealed to the police to do something about the issue before something unfortunate happens.

Madam Fatima Abubakar, a porridge seller, told the GNA that the 'madmen' scared food vendors who refused to give them food.

Mr Joseph Kyeremeh, a taxi driver, said the Techiman Main Station is now a shelter for many of the deranged individuals who roam about in the municipality.
