Miss Bert Frimpong, a 21-year-old first year Health Assistant Clinical (HAC) student at the Mampong Nursing & Midwifery Training School in the Ashanti region, has committed suicide after taking a substance believed to be DDT. She died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the early hours of today.

Briefing the Media today, Chief Superintendent Wisdom Lavoe, Mampong Divisional Police Commander, said the police had information that the deceased was rushed to the Mampong Hospital in the early hours of Thursday, April 20 after complaining of stomach pains.

He said their investigations at the hospital revealed that she alledgely took a substance believed to be DDT.

Chief Superintendent Wisdom Lavoe said the information collected by the police in their investigation was that the deceased left a written note that she was not happy about the programme offered her at the school for she wanted to do Genteral Nursing

A Medical Assistant at the Mampong Hospital, Mr Yaw Tayyi, confirmed the story and said the deceased was taken to the hospital Casualty Ward by two students around 12.40 am on Thursday.

He said the hospital staff tried their best but when she was not responding to treatment she was referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Thursday at about 12.noon.

All attempts to talk to the principal of the school failed as she was not around.

Some portions of the note alledged to have been written by the deceased chanced upon by the police read:

"Lord please forgive me everyone. I didn't deserve to eat this fruit because of my ungrateful. Please forgive me everyone."
