Kasoa (C/R), March 26, GNA - Ms Rita Crentsil, member of the Sanctuary Assemblies of God Child Development Centre (CDC) at Gbawe emerged winner of the second edition of the Kasoa cluster of CDC preach competition in the Central Region out of twelve contestants.
Ms Crentsil had 81 marks to become winner of the competition followed by Evans Amoah of Kasoa Pentecost CDC with 72 marks for the second position while Solanga Amenuveve of Perfect Love Assemblies CDC got 67 to win the third position.
The competition sponsored by Compassion International Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organisation gave each contestants eight minutes to preach on the topic 'Praise' out of which five were selected to progress to the second stage of the competition for a winner.
The three winners received certificates and study Bibles while all participants received certificates of participation.
Mr Frederick Asante, Partnership Facilitator, Kasoa Cluster of Churches for Compassion International Ghana in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said the programme formed part of the NGO's spiritual activities to teach the children to learn the word of God.
He said the programme established in 2014 was aimed at assisting children to develop their talents to enable them become useful to the society and that it had provided the children with the platform to participate in the auditioning of the TV3 'Pulpit Show'.
Mr Asante called on parents to give their children the necessary support to enable them to develop their talents, since every child had a talent and would take the support of their parents to develop them.
He said children were gift from God and that it was necessary to nurture them through the word of God to grow and take up responsible positions and advised the children to be respectful and take their education seriously.
He said the NGO through the partnership of some churches opened 216 CDCs throughout the country and expressed the hope that more would be opened in all the regions.
Mr Eric Nyarko, Chairman of the Organising Committee for the competition urged parents to take keen interest in the spiritual development of their children since the competition helped in building the children's confidence in public speaking.
