Accra April 10, GNA - Southern Skies Marketing Company, a UK based tourism company, is to promote Ghana's tourism potentials in Europe, a company official said on Sunday.

Ms Julie Brenner, Marketing Manager, said her company would educate her staff in the UK on Ghana's tourism potentials and also encourage the media to visit Ghana and write about interesting tourist sites. Ms Brenner was on a week's tour with two British journalists and some staff from her company to visit tourists' sites in the country.

The team, which was invited by the Ministry of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City and the Ghana Tourists Board, visited the Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary, the Mole National Park, Kakum Forest and other tourist sites.

Ms Brenner said Ghana's tourism borders mainly on the slave trade but noted that there was the need to develop the wildlife, culture, drama and dance for tourism.

"The drama and dance, culture and the wildlife are so good. The British would love to watch them. Ghana has a very large tourism potential but has a low volume of patronage," Ms Brenner said. Mrs Bridget Katsriku, Chief Director of the ministry, told the GNA that the company had worked for the Gambia, Botswana and other countries in East Africa stressing.

Tourism contributes so much to the economy and there is the need to promote its potentials to help the country to develop,'' she said. 10 April 05
