Mayor of York arrives on visit to Fanteakwa District

Accra, Feb. 8, GNA - The Lord Mayor of the City of York, UK, Councillor Janet Looker arrived in Accra on Monday at the head of a four-member delegation for a 10-day fraternal visit to the Fanteakwa District in the Eastern Region.

The visit, which is in furtherance of the Fanteakwa - York links would enable Councillor Looker to assess potential areas of collaboration between the city of York and the Fanteakwa District. In a chart with newsmen on arrival, Councillor Looker said she would assist the District in its development especially in communication and education.

During her visit, Councillor Looker would visit a number of tourist attractions in the District and call on Okyenhene Amoatia Ofori-Panyin and Osabarima Awuah Kotoko II, Begorohene.

A durbar of chiefs and people of the Fanteakwa Traditional Area would also be held in her honour at Begoro.

Mr Ebenezer Ofoi Caesar, District Chief Executive of the Fanteakwa District, met her on arrival.
