Accra, Jan. 13, GNA - The Socialist Forum of Ghana on Thursday congratulated Mahmoud Abbas on his election as the President of the State of Palestine.
A statement signed by Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr on behalf of the National Co-ordinating Committee of the Forum said the Forum was confident that under his leadership the people of Palestine would realise their hopes and aspirations.
The statement asked Mr Abbas to work towards achieving the right of all Palestinian refugees to return home to participate in the development of Palestine.
"The Socialist Forum of Ghana calls on the Israeli colonial authorities to dismantle their so-called security wall and create favourable conditions for durable peace in the Middle East." Mahmoud Abbas won a landslide victory in last Sunday's election to replace President Yasser Arafat, who died late last year.
