Konongo (Ash), Dec 22, GNA - The Asante-Akim North District Assembly, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, has presented items worth about 20 million cedis to the physically challenged in the district.
The items included four wheel chairs, four sewing machines, two bags of flour, two bags of sugar, and four hair dryers, cooking oil and shoemaking tolls.
Presenting the items Mr George K. Frimpong, the Asante-Akim North District Chief Executive, expressed regret that some physically challenged people use their condition to commit. He mentioned some of the crimes they indulged in as the selling of narcotic drugs and begging on streets and asked them to desist from such acts.
Mr Frimpong appealed to the beneficiaries to use the equipment they had received for the purpose for which they are intended and said the assembly would continue to assist them only when they put to good use what they had been given.
