US based organisation funds water project at Aburaso

Aburaso (Ash), Nov. 16, GNA - A 22-million-cedi hand-dug well fitted with submersible electrical pump was on Monday inaugurated at Aburaso in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region to assist provide the people in the community easy access to good drinking water.

Zeta PHI Beta Sorority Incorporated, a US based organisation that is part of the Global Alliance for Education and Health, funded the project.

This brings to eight, the number of such water projects the organisation has provided in Ashanti. The others are at Tanoso, Apatrapa, Nyankyerenease and Hiawu-Besease.

Speaking at the inauguration, Nana Ama Serwaah Ampem, Nkosuohemaa of Apatrapa and Co-ordinator of the programme, asked the people to ensure that they protect the facility.

She told them that funds for the implementation of the project were from sacrifices made by a group of Black Americans, who were desirous of seeing progress in Africa and that it would be unfortunate if it was not well handled or abused.

Nana Omenaa Akyeredu, Queenmother of Aburaso said the people were grateful to the Americans for the support. She appealed to them to consider building a library for the basic school in the community as a way of contributing to the promotion of education in the area.
