New Edubiase (Ash), Aug 6, GNA- The Adansi East District Assembly is investigating two top officials of the assembly in connection with how 100 million cedis released by the government for education on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was utilised.

The officials are Mr Paul Odame-Badu, the District Co-ordinating Director and Mr Prince K. Newman, the Budget Officer.

The five-member investigation committee chaired by Mr Francis Kwakye, an assemblyman with Mr Kusi Appiah Nti as secretary and Madam Margaret Owusu, Mr Augustine Amoah and Mr Thomas Appiah, all assembly members as members.

Investigations into the use of the money stemmed from concerns raised by some assembly members about lack of knowledge on the NHIS in their communities.

They said people in their communities were complaining that they did not know much about the scheme and therefore wanted to know why education on the scheme was not done.

When the District Co-ordinating Director was asked to tell the assembly how the 100 million cedis was utilised, he presented a report on their activities which was, however, rejected by the assembly, saying that his report did not reflect the reality on the ground.
