Court frees labourer on defilement charge

Tema, July 29, GNA - The Tema Circuit Court 'B', has acquitted and discharged Kwaku Kumah, a 32- year- old labourer, who pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement.

Police Chief Inspector Alice Gyamfi told the Court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye, that the accused impregnated a 15 year-old girl, after defiling her twice between July and August last year.

She said the victim's mother who noticed the pregnancy caused the arrest of Kwaku after a medical examination at the Tema General Hospital had confirmed the pregnancy.

At the end of the trial, parents of the victim asked for an out of court settlement.
