SLAM Ghana Inter-school spoken word competition kicks-off

Accra , Feb 20, GNA - The National Theatre of Ghana is set to host   the first edition of its much anticipated monthly Senior High School event dubbed 'Teen SLAM Ghana Inter-school Spoken Word and Poetry Competition' for the year 2015.

The event aimed at enriching students vocabulary is scheduled to come off on today, Friday, February 20.

In an interview with Ms Becky Adjei, Public Relations Officer of the National Theatre, she observed that the event which is a flagship of the National Theatre is targeted at second-cycle institutions to give the students the platform to enrich their vocabulary and learn to express themselves.

She said they would bring together some selected second cycle institutions in Accra to compete among themselves.

Ms Adjei explained that instead of being idle, the students would use the opportunity to understand their culture better.

Participating schools in this month's edition are Presbyterian Boys Senior High School-Legon, Presec-Osu, Accra Academy, Nungua Senior High School (SHS), Accra Girls SHS, Kinbu Secondary Technical and Jacques Prevert French School.

She stated that, the Teen SLAM Ghana Inter-school Spoken Word and Poetry Competition comes with a gate fee of Ghana five cedis.

The Teen SLAM Ghana inter-schools spoken work and poetry competition is held once every month of the year, with the upcoming one being the seventh edition since its commencement last year.
