myJCR.com equips KNUST students with website designing skills

Some students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) who have interest in website designing were equipped with valuable skills last Saturday during “The Apprentice KNUST Reloaded”.

The Apprentice KNUST Reloaded, an entrepreneurship programme, was organized by myJCR.com in collaboration with the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS-KNUST) on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Africa Hall JCR to equip students with skills to enable them start their own website designing company after school. This is to supplement efforts by government and various institutions in curbing graduate unemployment in Ghana.

The resource person of the programme which received massive attendance and participation was Katakyie HiLary Dodoo, the CEO of myJCR.com and Senior Biomedical Scientist of the University Hospital, Kumasi.

With his in-depth experience in website development, broadcast journalism and graphic designing, Katakyie HiLary took participants through the complete process of website development using a live online practical demonstration.

Participants were also taking through the use of credit cards for online payments, website security, backups, domain name registration, website hosting, SEO, and Content Management Systems (CMS).

In attendance was Evelyn Mutinta Sappor, NUGS-KNUST President, together with other NUGS executives.

The Apprentice KNUST Reloaded, was offered to students of KNUST free of charge due to the full sponsorship by myJCR.com and with the support of Africa Hall JCRC President, popularly known as APC.

The main programme, The Apprentice KNUST, which was supported by myJCR.com was organized a week earlier at the Independence Hall Dinning Hall. Participants were equipped with skills in “sobolo” making, yoghurt making, bead making, shampoo and soap making, and website designing skills.
