GNA

NPP wins second term" Kete-Krachi, June 18, GNA - The country will witness an unprecedented development when the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) mandate is renewed in the upcoming general elections, Mr Daniel Botwe, General Secretary of the party has said.

He said adequate and prudent foundation had been laid within its three-year reign to serve as a fulcrum around which accelerated growth and development would revolve.

Mr Botwe, who was addressing party functionaries in 22 selected zones in seven Northern Volta constituencies including the newly created Krachi East and Nkwanta South constituencies as part of his six-day familiarisation tour of the region said "enough foundation has been laid for a breakthrough."

He urged members of the party to gird their loins to the challenge and also to take advantage of the renewed and overwhelming enthusiasm and appreciation the party was receiving countrywide to woo more people into their fold.

"Nobody is a stranger and a late-comer as far as the NPP is concerned", he cautioned.

The General Secretary entreated the rank and file of the party to emulate the cordiality, unity and discipline being displayed by the party hierarchy and make it more attractive.

Mr Botwe, however, warned that the party would not hesitate to sanction recalcitrant members who might want to foment trouble and discredit it. He advised members to detest violence during the primaries, adding, "there is no individual winner, the party is supreme."

Mr Botwe said the party would soon launch its "cost effective campaign strategy," to enable it to dent the home invincibility of the National Democratic Congress in the region.

He pledged logistical and other resource support towards achieving the noble objective.

Mr Kenwuud Nuworsu, Volta Regional Chairman of NPP urged members to eschew factionalism, intimidation and antagonism in their activities to make the party attractive.

He said the progress and achievements chalked within three and a half years of steady government policies and programmes was enough to convince the electorate.
