Kumasi, May 18, GNA - Parliament of Ghana on Tuesday presented assorted drinks and cash of two million cedis to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, towards the Asanteman 'Adae Kese' celebration and his fifth anniversary on the Golden Stool.

Nana Asante-Frempong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwabre and chairman of the Asante parliamentary caucus, who led a three-man delegation to make the presentation, also donated one million cedis to the Asantehene on behalf of the caucus.

Other members of the delegation were Dr Edward Baffoe-Bonney, MP for Asokwa East and Mr James Adusei-Sarkodie, MP for Atwima-Nwabiagya. Barima Asumadu Sakyi II, Kumawuhene and Nana Gyeabour Fosu Akoto II, Bechemhene, chairman and vice-chairman respectively of the Asanteman 'Adae Kese' Planning Committee, commended parliament for the gesture. They said the presentation came on a day that the Asantehene was performing the purification rites of the 'Busummuru' sword for which drinks were needed for the occasion.

They said the message from parliament would be carried to the Asantehene.
