300 million cedis teachers resource centre for Agona

Agona Swedru, April 12, GNA - Mr Samuel Obodai, Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona West said he would make available part of his share of the common fund towards the construction of a 300-million cedi teachers resource center and library at Agona Swedru.

He said the center, which would be equipped with computers and books would facilitate teaching and learning.

The MP expressed regret that the Agona District placed 77 in the last year Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Mr Obodai commended the government for supplying desks and chairs to basic schools in the district.

He urged parents to invest in the education of their children and to help them acquire skills and knowledge required for national development.

Mr Fredrick Kwesi Essah and Kofi Osei co-proprietors of the school appealed to the Ministry of Education and international donors to provide computers and books for the school's library.

Mr Essah also appealed to the MPs for Agona East and Agona West, the Ghana Education Service and the Agona District Assembly to assist the school with tables, chairs teaching materials to enhance academic work.

He called on government to ensure that the school benefited from the President's special Initiative on Distance Education.

Mr Essah appealed to the Ministry of Education to make available cassettes on distance education so that interested individuals and schools could obtain them.

Mr George K.Y.Bondze, Headmaster, said for the past five years the school has been chalking academic success.

He commended the teachers of the school for the dedication to duty and urged the students to learn hard so that the could pass their examinations.
