Twin Blast Rock Assam Ahead Of Rahul Gandhi Visit, 8 Injured

Guwahati, February 24: A day ahead of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's scheduled Assam tour, twin blast rocked the state on Monday evening.

At least eight people were injured in two blasts at a busy market in Kamrup district on Monday evening.

The incident took place at Gasbari market near in Kamrup district bordering area of Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD), where suspected miscreants lobbed two grenades.

“Suspected militants had lobbed two grenades at the market targeting common people, in which eight people were injured,” a top police official said.

The injured persons had rushed to nearest hospital and Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).

Top police and army officials had rushed to the area and took stock of the situation and launched operation against the suspected militants.

On other hand, Assam police has arranged tight security in the state ahead of Rahul Gandhi visit.
