Akropong (Ash), Nov. 28, GNA - Osei Tutu Senior High School has signalled a deliberate shift towards effective science teaching and learning with the upgrading of the school's science laboratory.
It had spent about GH¢20,000.00 to completely refurbish the place - bringing in new gadgets and furniture.
The Headmaster, Mr S.K. Fordjour, said the education ministry, was also complementing with the supply of additional equipment.
He was addressing the 73rd anniversary speech and prize-giving day of the school at Akropong in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District.
'Moral education as a tool for transformational development' was the theme for the event.
This boys' school, with a student population of 2,200, is one of the educational institutions established by the Methodist Church.
Mr Fordjour described the academic performance as impressive and said 849 out of the 992 candidates presented for this year's West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), for example passed in all eight subjects.
One hundred and thirty (130) of them passed in seven subjects, 10 in six subjects and two in four subjects.
The achievement was the result of the prevailing high level of discipline among both students and the teaching staff.
He pledged open and transparent administration, which offered the opportunity for all to freely express themselves and seek clarification of issues without fear of intimidation.
The Headmaster appealed for the re-activation of construction works on a stalled block of classrooms, started few years ago.
