By Joy Sports, Benedict Owusu

Former Accra Hearts of Oak defender Yaw Amankwa Mireku says he still has what it takes to play at the highest level of the game.

The veteran defender who has been sojourning in the United States and Mexico in the last few years played a pivotal role in Hearts of Oak's reign in the early 2000.

The 33-year-old who has not been in the professional setting of the game for sometime, believes he can still play active football despite his age.

“I can still play active football, I'm a disciplined guy and I can endure every training session so I believe with all these I can still play”, he told Joy sports in an exclusive interview.

“It doesn't matter the age and how long you have played, you just have to train hard and you can play.”

In a related development Amankwa Mireku's former Hearts of Oak colleague Ishmael Addo who was very instrumental when Hearts conquered Africa in 2000 to win the CAF Champions league and the Super cup insists, though injury has blighted his career in recent times, he is not done yet with gracing the football turf with his free-scoring prowess.

“I had a minor injury and i was taking it easy but i'm gradually regaining full fitness.

“I have more football years ahead and i believe very soon Ghanaians will see me again.”

Ishmael Addo spent his whole career at Accra Hearts of Oak but has also spent several years on loan in France, Israel, Greece, Cyprus and India.
