Entrepreneurship seminar for service personnel
21.07.2013 LISTEN

He stated this at an entrepreneurship and job creation seminar held in Kumasi for members of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) in the Ashanti Region.

He said bearing in mind the unemployment situation in the country, it was necessary for service persons to know their capabilities and make practical steps to start their own businesses after their national service.

He gave an assurance that the NSS was working closely with NASPA to provide what was good for service persons to usher them into the job market to lessen the job creation burden on the shoulders of the government.

He expressed the hope that NASPA members, with careful planning, could excel in both the public and private sectors.

Over 68, 000 final year students in the tertiary institutions, particularly universities and polytechnics across the country, were deployed by the NSS in August 2012 to begin their national service for the 2012/2013 service years.

Out of the number, a little over 12, 000 were deployed to undertake their national service in the Ashanti Region.

Speakers at the seminar included Dr Michael Agyekum Addo, who is the Chief Executive Officer of KAMA Group of Companies, Mrs Theophilla Acheampong from Graduate Business Support Scheme (GEBSS) and Mr Joseph Caitoe of EQS Consult.

The Ashanti Regional NASPA President, Frank Kofi Kyei, advised the participants to make good use of the seminar.
