Government to enhance the capacity of the media

German's Ambassador in Ghana, Dr Renate Schimkoreit, interacting with Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mr Mahama Ayariga. Accra, Feb. 20, GNA - Mr Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Information and Media Relations, said the government would help build the capacity of both the public and private media.

He said the Ministry's mandate had been expanded by the President to include media relations; and "the vision is to harness the potential of both public and private sector media".

Mr Ayariga said these when Dr Renate Schimkoreit, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, paid a courtesy call on him in Accra on Wednesday.

He said the Ministry would make sure that information, which is vital for national development, was made available to Ghanaians, and commended the German Government and German non-governmental organizations for  supporting efforts to execute Ghana's development agenda.

Dr Schimkoreit pledged that Germany would support Ghana with information dissemination towards Ghana's national development, and invited the Minister to acquaint himself to German projects in Ghana.
